Our Commitment to Product Safety at Thinx
is it safe to wear Thinx?
Yes. And when it comes to our reusable underwear, you deserve to know why it’s safe. We care deeply about the materials used in our products, putting comfort and safety at the core of our design, development and manufacturing. That is why per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS, are not part of our product design. We require suppliers of our raw materials to sign a Supplier Code of Conduct and Chemical Supplier Agreement attesting that these substances are excluded from sourced goods for Thinx.
our commitment to Thinx product safety
Our underwear is certified based on the rigorous chemical safety requirements of the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® [20.HUS.04850 | HOHENSTEIN HTTI] and complies with the even more stringent OEKO-TEX® 100 Class II, Annexure IV. We also test our finished products through an accredited, globally recognized third-party laboratory to help ensure they are compliant with U.S. and international regulations.
Thinx is a member of the Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management Group (AFIRM) and follows the AFIRM restricted substances list (RSL) for suppliers of raw materials. We also require suppliers of our raw materials to sign a Supplier Code of Conduct and Chemical Supplier Agreement confirming compliance with the AFIRM RSL including the AFIRM restrictions on PFAS.
the Thinx lawsuit and settlement
In November 2022, we reached an agreement to settle a lawsuit related to how products were marketed (not about injuries or harm caused by the products). We resolved the matter so that we can focus our attention on doing what we do best — bringing innovative, safe, and comfortable leak protection underwear to customers.
why you can feel comfortable choosing Thinx
You deserve period and leak protection that gives you comfort physically, mentally, and emotionally. That’s why we’re committed to sharing the plain facts about our reusable underwear — how it’s made, what it’s made of, and why it’s safe.
Reusable period underwear, such as Thinx underwear, are designed to replace disposable menstrual products like pads and tampons. They are made of high-tech fabrics that are designed to absorb menstrual flow and prevent leaks, and they can be washed and reused multiple times.
